It has been all systems go this week and we’ve not taken many photos I’m afraid! Along with our classroom learning we had a lovely trip out of celebrate mass with our parish on Wednesday. We HAVE to share with you how beautifully they behaved! We were so proud our their stillness, reverence and their participation within the mass. We have also been super busy, rehearsing for our Easter assembly, which we cannot wait to share with you on Monday. There is only one showing of each Easter assembly, 9:15.
In English, we have met some rather interesting characters, Clac, Grim and some very interesting green children! Together we have been developing our reading skills, paying particular attention towards the punctuation and how that helps us when reading. The children loved this, along with developing their drama skills when reading speech!
We have been very reflective in RE, thinking all about the start of the mass. We learnt that during this part, we ask God to forgive us. We read the Penitential Rite. We discussed how saying sorry helps our friendships when we make mistakes. Jiana and Grace put it beautifully, making a heart with their hands, they said, “friendships are like the heart, and when we make a mistake our heart gets broken. We have to work really hard to mend our friendships and make them even stronger, for our friendship hearts to go back together.”
In Maths, we have continued learning about unit fractions and have been comparing them (a unit fraction has a numerator of 1). The children learned that when comparing unit fractions, the greater the denominator the smaller the fraction. The children will be showing you how they do this for homework. Some of the children have left their homework books at school in the business of rehearsing for our Assembly.
In History the children have been investigating why the Roman Army was able to keep control of such a vast empire. We made a human tug of war, with each person representing a reason for the army’s success. The chilren’s ‘tug’, represented the strength of the reason!
Today has been a very sad day in our class, as we have had to say goodbye to our wonderful Jiana. Although you are leaving our class Jiana, you will forever be a part of our school family. We are all so grateful that you joined us on our learning journey and we will all miss you terribly. Please keep in touch and share your new adventures with us!
Cerificates
Amelia, your resilience has been growing every week this half-term. You’ve been pushing yourself in every lesson to think deeply and grow your brain. You’ve even been doing extra learning about the Stone Age at home! Well done Amelia we are so proud of you. Keep being a brave and determined learner!
Rose, you have been such a brave learner this half-term. You’re never afraid to have a go and always try your very best. Your brilliant Boudica speech reflected how brave and determined she was…just like you! Keep putting your hand up and taking a risk, Rose. We are so proud of you!
