Hello Reception class, it’s Miss Lane here! I will be your Year 1 teacher in September, with the help of Mrs Kaur and we could not be more excited to grow your brains! I am buzzing with excitement for this week, as we will be getting to know each other. Watch the video below to find out more about what is to come this week!
Like I said in the video, each day I will be setting you some challenges: a getting to know you activity and an activity based on something you will learn in Year 1. In Year 1, you will be continuing on your ‘learning to read adventure’. So, each day I would love you to spend some time practising your sounds and getting cosy with a book. I have also set some extra challenges below which you are welcome to do anytime this week!

All about me
Watch the video to find out all about me and than have a go at the activity yourself! In the video I forgot to include some of my favourite things to do outside of school. I love baking cakes, going on long walks (with a picnic), taking care of my garden and ice skating. Can you include some of your hobbies in your poster? Worry Monster
In Year 1 we have a Worry Monster who loves cuddles and listening to your worries. His favourite thing is when you share your worry with him. He/she gobbles it up and helps to put a smile back on your face!
Can you help me name our class Worry Monster? Send me your name suggestions and I will be randomly choosing the name in a video on Friday! Can you create your own worry monster? What does he/she look like? What does he/she feel like? Can you draw/make your worry monster and write some sentences to describe them? I know you did lots about monsters last week so I know you’ll be brilliant at this challenge!
