‘We rise by lifting others’.

We have reached the end of another busy half term and Year 1 have amazed me again with their determination, enthusiasm, creativity and resilience. Throughout the term they have continued to be ambitious, setting themselves challenges and they have all been focused Cooper Crabs working towards their goals. Their brains have certainly been growing and what has been particularly wonderful so see is how supportive of one another they continue to be.
You have such big hearts Year 1 and everyday you make your teachers and grown ups very proud!

You all certainly deserve a rest this half term; read, play, have lots of fun and I look forward to hearing all about it after the holidays!

In Maths, we have been exploring position and direction such as left, right, forward and backward through lots of practical activities.

In RE, we reflected on when Jesus ascended to Heaven after spending fourty days with his disciples. We thought about why Jesus might have gone back to Heaven and then children came up with some thoughtful ideas such as “He was called by God” and “God had a special job for him”.

In Geography, we have concluded our ‘At The Farm’ topic by reflecting on all of our learning so far and using this to compare the differences between a farm and a town. The children created a list of words to compare such as “peaceful”, “calm”, “lots of space” to describe a farm and “crowded” and “noisy” to describe towns.

Hip-Hip-Hooray!

Just a little reminder that on June 8th we are celebrating in style with a Red White and Blue Day.
At lunch time we will enjoy a whole school picnic outside on the field (let’s pray for a sunny day!).
