What a week of royal celebrations it has been. We have had such fun finding out about Queen Elizabeth II and celebrating her Platinum Jubilee. After watching the Queen’s coronation we decided to make our own crowns and have a coronation of our own…luckily our crowns weren’t as heavy as the Queen’s! Wednesday was the day of our picnic and what a joy it was to all join together as a whole school on the playground. There was plenty of dancing, bubbles and sausage rolls!
After watching some videos of the Queen we were interested to find out more about her life as a little girl and what she liked to play with. We have been researching old toys through the years of her life and comparing them to more modern toys. We had some great discussions and questions about the materials and how they were made. We loved having a play with lots of toys like a spinning top and a Rubik’s cube. We finished out week with a puzzle challenge we had to work in groups of five to complete different jigsaw within the time limit, it was a test of patience and turn taking but the teams were so pleased when they completed the challenge.
This week we were lucky to be joined by our Y6 helpers, Jacob, Ava, Harry and Megan. They all worked hard completing jobs around the classroom and worked with the children so beautifully. We look forward to seeing you again next week.
