What a busy week! We have launched (literally ) into our Forces lessons in science. In the first session the children were given instructions on how to build an elastic band rocket. The children then decided what investigation they could complete with this self made devise. We discovered that when the elastic band was pulled back it propelled the rocket forwards. We decided to pull back to different lengths and discovered that the more the pull and tighter the elastic band the further the rocket went. We collected our results on purple mash - “2graph” . This experiment led to a deep discussion about gravity, forces that push and pull and how the the test could be changed in the future. These lessons led to more science as we explored parachutes. Again we collected results working out an average this time. The children are working hard at being truly independent during science so their thinking informs their decisions when experimenting. In English we read the first five chapters of our class novel “The Midnight Fox” here we are focusing on our reading skills - paying attention to the authors intent. In maths we have finished our line graph work we are pretty confident when reading these now- they came up in our geography lesson and our science!!! In RE we are exploring the faith individuals had in God which fitted in beautifully with our worship session on being faith-filled. In music Mrs Mallison shared with the class new and exciting news about recycling in the Fylde. We can now recycle meat trays, yogurt pots and margarine tubs - anything with a 1,2 or 5 stamped in a triangle on it! Lancashire County Council have sent out a competition call for children to devise a jingle to promote this news. In response to this the children worked with Mrs Mallison in music to create a recycling rap- it is cool! We will be practising and recording it next week! On Thursday Callum-Sean, Gabriel and Laura led the class in a beautiful worship all about being brave. Finally a big thank you to the children who guided parents through one of our maths lessons during the curriculum evening last night!
