Firstly, I would like to celebrate the conservation work Year 5 took part in on Monday! We were blessed with good weather and our umbrellas stayed down! It was lovely for Mrs Mather and I as we had taken part in the same project two years ago and we could see how the dunes had grown because of the replanting that took place. We know that the work we have undertaken will make a difference to the habitat and will project the town in the future. I have uploaded the picture below- they are lovely!
In class we have begun our first class novel “Antigone” - very exciting and we have finished writing our first legend - I have loved marking them - very entertaining! We have met our grammar challenges too and in maths we have continued to brake down decimals one small step at a time! In History we have continued interpreting artefacts and we have explored why Athens was so powerful - ask the children who Solon was!.
Mrs Nel has completed all the lessons on databases in computing and our artwork is on display outside the classroom (looks fabulous). In music we filmed more solos and we are ready to bring our whole composition together. Madame Jefferson has challenged us to think deeply making sentences all about the body and at the swimming everyone is clearly progressing.
On Friday, we completed our penultimate Kids Safe lesson “ Keeping our body and our private places safe and children’s rules to help with this”. Again the children were mature and reflective. It is clear in class that they are using the strategies taught. I have attached the parents letter here for you to read - again you may want to chat to your child.
All in all a cracking week!!!
