" Two things inspire me- the starry heavens above and the moral universe within" Albert Einstein

The more we study the Earth, its movements and the space beyond, the more blown away we become! This week the children have completed a long write - this is an explanation text all about day and night and the seasons. We have begun to type out our work ready for display in the classroom - we will share it with you when we have added pictures, labels and captions. In maths we have tackled equivalent fractions - this is a tricky concept and we have needed a computer model to prove fractions take up the same space. In our weekly shape lesson we grasped how to find a perimeter on a rectilinear shape - we are really good at this now!. English and science were combined for most of the week- but we also had a history lesson investigating famous astronomers. From this we decided to replicate our own heliocentric models of the universe. Not until 500 years ago did we really understand that the sun was at the centre of our solar system - in our models we have imagined how astronomers in ancient times may have constructed the solar system and beyond. See the pictures below! Finally, highlight of the week and a lovely surprise for the class was a live Zoom drama session with members of the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company). We will be studying A Midsummer Nights Dream this term and the actors who joined us introduced us to the character of Puck. The children really enjoyed themselves! As promised I have popped the play (cbbc version) on the homework to watch over this lovely long weekend. I hope you enjoy it!
