We have taken this quote this week and we have run with it - especially in maths! With a roll of masking tape, a whiteboard pen and a protractor, we had an hour of deep thinking and practical maths. Webs were created on the table tops and then using their understanding of vertical angles, opposite angles, angles on a straight line and everything in between.
Classic fiction has continued to dominate our English lessons. This week we turned our attention to other classical texts: Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Secret Garden. The old ones are still the good ones for sure.
RHE - Talking about Transition
Last week I mentioned that we would be starting our transition lessons for high school. Now, more than ever, it is really important that the children are given time to share their thoughts and feelings about high school and that they feel like they are being listened to. Lesson 1 was all about being awesome…what makes us all awesome? Are there some lessons we are more average than awesome? Why is that? What do people perceive us to be? The children all discussed each others qualities complimented each other before reflecting on themselves.
I have linked my lesson slides to the button above so that you can discuss it with your child. Next week’s lesson is all about unlocking your mind - shifting from a fixed to a growth mindset.
Leading Learners.
We have been buzzing again in class this week, showcasing some wonderfully deep thinking.
Well done to Darcy, Archie and Evelin who have all continued to challenge themselves and to ensure that they have evidenced all of the objectives within their work.
Sharing your child’s learning journey
Next week is all about sharing your children’s journey and progress with their class teachers. I know all teachers are really looking forward to spending this time chatting with you to celebrate just what has already been achieved. Please remember there is no app to install you can access the meeting by just logging in. All appointments are seven minutes and you will see the time and count down on the screen. Please note: when the countdown ends the meeting is automatically closed and the next appointment is started, the teacher has no control over this. We would recommend that you login and check the audio and visual before your appointment starts. Please also remember that appointments commence on the clock and not when teachers and parents arrive so please be prompt to avoid any loss of minutes. I will send out appointment reminders today. Below is the link to where you can login to access our school. Please remember to use the exact name you registered with when you made the appointment.
