"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

Dear Parents,

It was lovely to share our emotional assembly with you on Thursday.. I know the children were so excited about performing. It felt wonderful to be in the hall with you - having a shared experience and creating memories. Hopefully you will join us again in the summer when we perform in the Year 6 end of year production!

We have continued to work hard this week - never letting the learning slide away! In fact it has been a very informative - in HRSE we explored racism, what it is and the effect it has on those who experience it? We have reflected on some wider events and linked it back to our studies on North America. We understand now that many of the countries in the Caribbean once belonged to the British Empire and as citizens together we fought the war and then rebuilt Britain in its aftermath. We have also started our new class novel “The Windrush Child” by Benjamin Zephaniah. The children know that The Windrush was a boat (troop transporter) which brought people from the Caribbean to Britain “the Mother Country”. The children recognize that we live in a diverse country- a place where every member needs to be valued and loved. Needless to say this all links back to our Lord Jesus Christ and the love and dignity he afforded each and every person- even those who killed him.

Awards this week 〰️

This week our weekly Grow Your Brain certificates went to:

Christian - wonderful resilient approach to all his learning (nailed his reading target too).

Isabella - We all want to thank Isabella. We have had illness in class over the past couple of weeks and every time somebody went down, Isabella offered to learn their part. The child, who was ill, returned and Isabella stepped back. Then at the last moment she had to step in to a part she didn’t know - thank you Isabella for being a real team player.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Food technology lessons will be taking place during the first half of next term. It is really important that the children are organized and bring the correct ingredients. Mrs Curtis will be teaching and she has prepared very clear instructions which are attached below. Please note- that half children will be cooking for 2 hours one week and then missing the next as the other half cook. Every child has been given the instructions in a booklet and I have attached it here for you too.
