Year 6 Weekly Blog 'Anything can happen if you let it' Mary Poppins

Another fantastic week was had in Year 6, the weather has been wonderful and we have been making the most of it!

Sports days have been the highlight of the week this week! Groups of children have helped out every afternoon, and the teachers have been singing their praises, saying they couldn’t have done it without them. In fact, we were quite lost on Thursday when it came, realising that Year 6 could not help on this one as they were in it! What wonderful role models you have been Year 6, thank you- this is when we see this term of ‘service’ really come to life. Our own sports day was fantastic and made even better, as this year we could share it with families, so thank you for coming and cheering us all on! They all gave their absolute best, showed great determination and full of smiles.

We have another exciting event coming up next week, please continue reading this week’s blog to find out more!

The play is coming together beautifully, children haver come much more prepared for each scene, as they have clearly been practising their words and songs! We can’t wait for you to see it.

This week during our Health and Happiness week, it has been all about the importance of keeping our bodies and minds healthy through sport, but also the children have looked at what a healthy and unhealthy relationship with online behaviour looks like and feels like. The children have been creating their own characters and comic strips this week, coming up with different scenarios which we will be discussing next week.

Sports Day 2022 Highlights!

Well done to Victor, Olivia and James

Victor and Olivia, we have been so proud of the way you have focused on your tasks this week and showing just how independent you are. You have both completed your work so quickly but to an excellent standard. Thank you for being so determined, enthusiastic and focused.

James what a lovely member of the class you are, you are so polite and work alongside people so gently, offering help to anyone who may need it. You are being such an independent learner to- thank you James.

Gym Jam Jog!

Next week Friday 24th is our ANNUAL GYM JAM JOG (sadly postponed since 2019!)
Below are the details for all joggers, old and new:

  • The children are invited to come to school in their PYJAMAS and bring a cuddly teddy.

  • We arrive super early!!! The gates will open at 8 O'clock.

  • The children are then invited to run with their friends or their grown up (pyjamas not essential).

  • It is important that you count the laps.

This is a sponsored event.
There has been much debate at school council level about what the children would like in their playground and they want a castle!!!!
A place where imaginations can run wild! Needless to say, we need money for the build - we know as a community we can do this!

  •  Use the sponsor form sent home this weekend to ask family and friends to sponsor you for each lap or to donate on the promise that you will jog your heart out!!!

  • We will jog right up until school starts when we will say goodbye to parents and jog into class - ready for breakfast!

We can't wait to share another event with the whole school family together!
Thank you!
