Can you keep on improving like Lizzie Ladybird today?
Good morning everyone, another Friday! You are doing so well with your learning children, you are making us and your parents very proud with your determination and resilience. This makes it so tricky to choose the certificates, who will it be?
Reading
Keep reading. You are doing a great job! Don’t forget to read for at least 30 minutes today and then take a quiz if you have finished your book. Remember you get the most points towards your target if you get 100% on your quizzes. Remember the link to Accelerated Reader quizzes is on the orange ‘How to help your child’ button, it will take you straight to the log in page that you see in school. How are you progressing up the rainbow? Don’t forget to let us know when you reach 100% of your target so that we can celebrate with everyone.
Maths fluency answers from yesterday
Here is a little video of me marking yesterday’s maths fluency, make sure you watch this before you attempt today’s, it should help you.
Maths
Fluency
Have a look on Purple Mash and complete the last of your fluency sheets for this week (named Maths fluency 22.1.2021). Apologies if those fluency boxes have been a bit pesky to write or type in the last couple of days. I have hopefully ironed out any niggles with them now. You are such Sadie Spiders!
Top tips
Don’t forget to set out any questions which need some working out in your maths book before you set the timer.
Copy answers from your maths book on to your Purple Mash 2do after the timer goes off.
This will then give you the whole 7 minutes to just calculate your answers.
IXL
Please complete strand I.10 on Year 3 IXL. It is some practice on those 3 digit plus 3 digit additions in the form of word problems.
English
Today we are going to read the next part of chapter 4 of the Iron Man. Make sure that you read the text carefully with me and then complete the different activities. Remember to make sure that you work neatly and carefully and you think about your spelling and punctuation too please.
Science
In science today we are going to be looking at the different food groups and how much we need of each of these to keep us fit and healthy. We need a balanced diet - a mixture of each of them and not too much of some of the groups. I have included a powerpoint and a pdf of the lesson on the buttons below. Choose which one you want to follow and then complete the 2Do which I have set on Purple Mash. (Don’t forget to save your work and hand it in.)
Year 3 Photos, photos, photos!
Computing - photography
Another fun lesson of using our cameras to produce some lovely photos, collages and edited work. Super children!
Year 6 Blog - 'Gratitude paints little smiley faces on everything that it touches.'
It is really hard to believe that we are at the end of week 3 this term. We always talk about how time flies in Year 6, but now more than ever it really seems to. This has been another successful week of learning in Year 6 and I am incredibly proud of the children both at home and in school. There are different pressures for all of the children and they are required to work in a different way. Both groups of children are asked to be more independent than they usually would, in the current circumstances.

Can you be curious like Clara Clownfish today?
Good morning everyone, how is your week going? Well we hope! We just wanted to say well done on the lovely learning comments on the blog on Purple Mash, it is lovely to see you encouraging and supporting each other.
If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.
Does anyone know which book character we borrowed this lovely quote from? We’ll give you a clue - He is yellow and doesn’t seem to like wearing trousers! Email us with your answers.
Reading
How are you getting on with your reading? Don’t forget to read for at least 30 minutes today and then take a quiz if you are ready to quiz. Try to get all of the questions in your quiz right, don’t forget to refer back to the book if you need to. The link to Accelerated Reader quizzes is on the orange ‘How to help your child’ button, it will take you straight to the login page that you see in school. How are you progressing up the rainbow? Don’t forget to let us know when you reach 100% of your target so that we can celebrate with everyone.
Maths
Children I am so impressed with your maths at the moment, you really are being resilient little Sadie Spiders and Curious Clara Clownfish spotting those patterns with your numbers. Well done! Question 3 the ‘Your turn’ slide is on Purple Mash again today, so please complete it on there.
English
Today we are going to learn about the suffix -ment. Watch the video below and learn how you can change words from a verb to a noun by adding -ment. I have set you some 2Dos (There are 3 altogether) to do once you have watched most of the video but you will need to go back to the video after doing your 2Dos so that you can do the dictations. Remember to think carefully about how you spell the root words please.
I have also added a button with new spelling words for you to learn. Please practise these throughout the week because next week I am going to set you a spelling quiz.
French
We are up and running with some French again, so watch Madame Jefferson and practise your colours.

Yesterday we took a photo of the Reading Rainbow with your balloons on - we made sure that everyone was in the correct place. We will move you up when you have taken quizzes and take another photo in a few days. If you haven’t taken a quiz yet, see if you can take one soon. Don’t forget to read for at least 30 minutes today and take a quiz when you have finished a book. The link to Accelerated Reader quizzes is on the orange ‘How to help your child’ button, it will take you straight to the login page that you see in school. How are you progressing up the rainbow?
Since taking the photo in school and putting the photo on the blog I have just had another look and noticed that some people have moved up even more. A great big well done to Lily-Mae, Millie, Rosa, Max, Iris, Nicola, Franke, Owen, Ruby-Lilly, Christian and Leo who are doing so well at the moment. Keep up the good work!
Maths fluency
Here is a little video marking yesterday’s maths fluency, to get the best out of the fluency you will need to watch my little marking video the day after the fluency is completed and handed in. That way your child will get to see how the questions need to be worked out to allow them to make progress on their next fluency task.
Maths
Please see the video below for my maths lesson. We are popping some of the questions on Purple Mash that the children will be able to write on to help them with their work. When you get to the slide that says Your turn with the star, that task is set as a 2DO for you on Purple Mash named 20th January Maths. Please write on it to complete that task and hand it in to be marked.
English
Find out what happens next in the story of the Iron Man. Something strange, very strange is about to happen. Watch the video below and then complete the activities. Remember to make sure that your handwriting is neat and that you remember to include punctuation please.
