I was so unbelievably happy to hear that we can now open the school to more pupils. A school’s heartbeat is definitely the laughter of the children and the smiles that we see everyday. The past 12 weeks was not how I intended the children to finish their primary school journey but I am so grateful that we get to spend the last week together. It will be a little different and we will be in two learning bubbles, but I am busy being creative and trying to plan ways that we can celebrate the last week together - but afar! The children have been putting their own ideas on the class blog. I am really excited!

Day 5:
Using your plan from yesterday, write your story – either to match ‘I Walk With Vanessa’ or your own story about kindness.
Use the pictures in the book or your own plan to help you sequence the different parts of your story. Remember to rehearse each sentence out loud to check it makes sense before you write it down.
Include character thoughts and feelings – remember you want to inspire your reader to be kind too!
You may also choose to include some of the new vocabulary you have found this week.
Proof-read your work to check for spelling and punctuation. If you have written the story to match ‘I Walk With Vanessa’, you could replay the sharing of the pictures here:
Share your story with your family or email it to myself if you can. Enjoy spreading some kindness! I can’t wait to read your creations!

How is the start of this book similar to the others that we have looked at this week? How is it different?
Look back at all the extracts that you have read this week. Look at the way David Walliams presents his writing, e.g. Aaaaaaarrrggghhh, B A N G !
Why do you think he does this? What effect does this have on you, the reader?
Now watch The Midnight Gang Film.
Note: PG certificate. (Watch from 2:40 mins until 6:20 mins) You are going to write the scene that you have watched in your own words - IN PURPLE MASH (2do Midnight gang recount). Think about the events that have happened since Tom entered the children’s ward.
Things to think about
write in 3rd person (he, she, they)
write in the past tense
include some of your Year 4 skills, e.g. fronted adverbials for where or when
include speech and remember to use speech punctuation properly
use some of the David Walliams style of writing, e.g. larger words for effect.
