Welcome to our new week of learning. This week is all about writing a newspaper as Outcome 1, learning how to divide fractions and then starting our new science unit of work. I wonder what you all voted for.

Well, I think this week has been the best one of remote learning YET! The enthusiasm oozing from both home and school is amazing and the work produced is brilliant. We’ve fully got our teeth stuck into TT Rockstars now, and my, what fun it is! If you haven’t yet managed to get yourself logged on at home, please do. Already, just after one week, the children are so much more confident on some of their tables and are keen to learn more.

Firstly, a huge well done to everyone who completed the Purple Mash challenge this week. I loved seeing your mixed up animals; it gave me an idea! This week I have set you another painting challenge’ I would like you to listen to the story here and then create your own ‘Call me Gorgeous’ animal. Think about what kind of animal it could be, what it eats and where it lives. You can record your answers (maybe mummy, daddy or older bother or sister could help you). I can’t wait to hear from you all.
This week we have continued finding out about wild animals. The children found it confusing that they could go to the zoo to see wild animals and that they didn’t all live in their natural habitats. That led us to discuss conservation and endangered animals.
We have continued our exploration of number four by making an ice cream maths game. It’s really easy to make. Maybe you could make one at home home, watch out for the game to make in your book bags.
The children have spent a great deal of the week going on shape hunts. Shapes are everywhere click here to listen to the shape song and then you can go on a shape hunt at home too! Well done to anyone who finds a dodecagon! Click here for a shape sorting game.
If you enjoyed the Letters and Sounds animal noise game click here for another game. Ask mummy or daddy to click on a sound without looking at the picture, can you guess what it is? If you want to play a mystery sounds listening game click here.
We have been practicing our letter sounds and we are getting very good at recognising and saying the sounds correctly. Click here to listen to ‘here it and say’ it monster songs. Click on any of the sounds to listen to a phonic song. Happy listening!
We have found some great stories with animals in them but I think our favourite this week has been ‘The Runaway Chapati’. I promised the children that I would put it on our webpage so that you can enjoy reading it at home. In fact I bet the children could tell the story on their own!
We also read ‘Dear Zoo’, lots and lots!
Once again it has been VERY busy at nursery. We are learning so much! Try and have good rest this weekend because we have lots more exciting activities to grow our brains next week. We will be exploring farm and woodland animals. We have already started having a sneaky look at baby animal names. Watch out for more over the next couple of weeks.
Here are a few photos of everything else we’ve been up to this week! Enjoy.
I’m not sure what the weather forecast is for the weekend but I do hope you manage to get some fresh air, if only in the garden. After such a soggy week I’m sure we should be due some dry, sunny days. Whatever you decide to do, enjoy each others company and stay safe. We will see you all on Monday.
Barbara
Imagination can take you anywhere!
The week seems to have flown by so quickly. We are so proud of every single child in Reception, they are showing some amazing skills and qualities.

Another week of successful Remote and School learning here at Our Ladys. Everyone is now settling into a routine and feeling more settled. It is lovely receiving emails containing your artwork and messages, they really do make me smile and I hope you like my responses. All the Art activities are things you should be able to do with very little equipment and should take between 30 minutes and an hour to complete.
In Art this week…

What a super week we have had this week. We are so impressed with all of the work that the children have been doing both in class and at home. Well done everyone.
It was so lovely to see the children on the Zoom meeting on Wednesday and to share what they have been enjoying doing. We hope that you all enjoyed it at home as much as we did in school. We look forward to organising another for next week—same time and same place. I will send out the Zoom details in an email to you all. We are looking forward to seeing you all again.
We hope that you have enjoyed the learning this week and that you are managing OK. Thank you for all of your lovely emails and super photos. It is lovely to see all of the children’s hard work on Purple Mash and to see how they are continually trying to improve. You are such enthusiastic Bobby Bees, Lizzie Ladybirds who want to improve and Sadie Spiders who just keep on trying, Cooper Crabs who concentrate, Curious Clara Clownfish who are great at asking and answering questions, brave have a go Tommy Turtles and Creative Kiki Chameleons. On top of all that you must also be Co-operative Roger Robins because you are getting your work done. Well done everyone. Keep up the good work. Don’t forget to say a great big “thank you” to your lovely parents who are helping you everyday to do all of your fantastic work. (Can you think of something a little bit special that you can do to say thank you to them?)
Let’s Celebrate:
The children both at home and in school have continued to work really hard and to make us so proud with their creativity and focus. We are loving looking at all of the wonderful learning that is taking place at home and how children are really engaging with the videos, lessons and Purple Mash. Well done everyone. Thank you parents for all of your support and hard work too. This week, we just could not decide between quite a few learners at home and so we have decided to be incredibly cheeky and give not 1, not 2 but 3 home learning certificates this week as well as a certificate for a school learner. Well... we just could not decide who to choose and we did not want to wait until next week. So here goes: Our home learning certificates go to Millie, Angel and Max this week and our school certificate goes to Leo. Millie receives a concentrating Cooper Crab because she is so focused on her work and gets everything done. You are also so enthusiastic Millie. Well done, we are so impressed with all of your lovely work. Angel gets an Enthusiastic Bobby Bee certificate because he is just bubbling with enthusiasm at the moment. We are loving how you are engaging with everything and even trying hard to encourage others as well with your enthusiasm. Well done Angel—keep up this wonderful attitude. Max you are getting a Creative Kiki Chameleon certificate for your amazing animation. Wow!! We were all so impressed with this in school. We hope everyone at home enjoys it too. Make sure that you have a look at all of the animations that Miss Edmondson has posted. Max you have also been such a Bobby Bee too and your work is always super. Amazing handwriting too—well done. In school our certificate goes to Leo. Leo gets an Enthusiastic Bobby Bee certificate because he is so enthusiastic about doing all of his work. You are being so enthusiastic with your reading too Leo. We are really impressed with your efforts to reach your new (huge) reading target. Keep up the good work Leo. Well done.
More reasons to celebrate - we hope that you enjoy this week’s photo movie.
IXL success
Once again we have achieved another certificate from IXL for our amazing maths, well done children. View our certificate below.
Just look at the photo of the Rainbow - well done to those who are climbing up it. Rosa you are soooo close with 92.3%. I know you will do it by next week. Well done everyone!
Things to Note:
Please make sure that your child has layers on during this cold weather. We need to have doors and windows open for ventilation and so the classroom is really cold at times. Thank you.
Don’t forget that if your child is learning at home, they can take reading quizzes from home again (Go to the orange “How to Help your Child” on the class page and scroll down to find the Accelerated Reader button—click on this, log on and take a quiz as you would in school). Please do try to have a go at quizzing if you have not managed to do this yet.
Please check your emails about our next Zoom meeting that we are organising for next Wednesday 3rd February at 9:15am. Please remember that by accepting the invitation to join the meeting you are agreeing to accept the guidance. For this Zoom meeting we would like the children to find their best work to show the rest of the class and to say why they are proud of themselves. Please have this ready and have a think what you are going to say. Can we remind everyone at home that they should not be sending messages to each other whilst we are on Zoom meeting please. Thank you.
Thank you for all of your support and co-operation this week. We really do appreciate all that you are doing to help the children with their learning at home and for all of the emails and photos that you have sent to us this week. We are so proud of the children and we want them to continue their learning journey no matter whether they are at home or school.
Please do continue to email us and keep in contact. We are here to help where we can and to keep the children learning.
Take care and stay safe

Well year 4 we have learned about an amazing discovery this week, from Ancient Egypt and we have had lots of fun showing what we have learned - see pictures below!
I am very proud of how much you are discovering about yourselves each day. You are discovering that you can be so resilient and you try to solve problems as they arrive. You are discovering that you have become so excellent at understanding what you read and can analyse language to see what it means. You have learned that you can do very tricky multiplication when you look for patterns and connections. You have learned how to email, blog, type and zoom - all these different ways of communicating what you feel and think! It is truly amazing and I am blown away by your enthusiasm. You make me smile every day, but like
all teachers, we long to be teaching you in the classroom. This is why I was so over the moon to see you all in our class Zoom today. We had a lovely chat!
Let’s Celebrate!
This week our school learner goes to John-Joseph. He received the Kiki Chameleon Certificate for his creative writing ideas and the way that he thinks creatively when solving maths problems. You have become such a super learner and are a pleasure to teach!
Our home learner this week goes to Christian. He has received a Bobby Bee certificate for really throwing himself into all learning and enthusiastically trying his best at everything since lockdown! Christian you are engaging so well with everything you are doing and have become such a super learner. Keep it up!
We also have a home/school learner this week. Esme, you are such a Clara Clownfish! You love to figure things out for yourself and then explain them to others. You put so much thought into all you do. You always make sure you are up to date with your home learning so you are ready for your learning in school and can take that next step.
Reading targets: These children have met their target this week: Lexi, Amber, Kai and Jacob O! Well done Year 4 - we have moved you to the top of the sunflower in class.
11 children have now met their targets. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get the whole class meeting it by half term! Two weeks left - so many of you are so close!
Notices:
With the success of this week’s Zoom call, we will be doing a class zoom every week on Fridays at 11.35 until half term.
I have put a video on help section about how to insert a phot into Purple mash, in case anyone is still having any issues.
We are all working so hard! I hope you get some really good rest at the weekend everyone and I love that you are all keeping in touch through emails.
Remember, we are all here to help so do not hesitate to ask any questions or ask for asisstance if you need it.
Have a lovely one - I saw some snowdrops the other day - an early sign of Spring!
God bless,
Mrs Lyons, Mrs Mather and Miss Forster.
Year 6 Weekly Blog - 'Extra, extra...read all about it!'
We have certainly brought a feeling of a newsroom to St Annes this week, and in particular, to the houses and school of the Year 6 children. I have really enjoyed seeing the children’s creativity this week when designing their own headlines around situations that they have set up at home and at school. I have created a slideshow of some of my favourite ones.

Read moreAmazing animations.
Wow children, you have blown me away with your animations. You really stepped up to the challenge set by the children who are now in Year 4. I know lots of you have really enjoyed this. Can you guess who made which one?
It has taken us a little longer to complete this in school as there a few of us, so if you need more time to complete it do not worry. Send them to my email as and when you can. I can always pop them on next week’s blog.
Make sure you scroll all the way down and press play on each one, you won’t want to miss one. It’s like being at the cinema. Sweet and salted popcorn for me please!
