We have had a lovely last week in Year 4 filled with lasting memories and joy! On Monday, we watched the Yr5 and 6 performance - The Greatest Show - which was simply wonderful! Children have been very busy creating their stories for their end of year puppet shows. They experimented with where to place the light source to get the best shadow puppets. They also retold the Viking myths learned in class.
On Wednesday, we completed our final french lesson on the topic of food. Children created their own menus in French and then served one another as waiters and waitresses with pain au chocolat, croissants, baguettes and limonade or jus d’orange!
We have been practising telling the time in our maths lessons and this is definitely something to revise over the Summer holidays when waiting for the plane or taking a trip to the beach!
Of course the obligatory end of year movie took place too! I have included some pictures below from last Friday’s fundraiser too.
Let’s Celebrate!
The children have voted for the certificates for the end of this half term. Certificates for every learning character go to Louis, Daisy and Lily. Your class said so many nice things about you - that you are all kind to people and are all good friends who are there for other people. Every single on of you have become great listeners with improved focus too. Well done.
Grateful and Generous butterflies
This week our butterflies go to Rory for always being so thankful and supporting everyone in class and Lorenzo for being so grateful - also for stepping in to tell stories for everyone this week.

French star - Matilda for a wonderful french presentation done as extra homework all about food!
A final note from me - I feel truly blessed to have taught your children and they will always hold a place in my heart. Thank you so much for all your support this year and for all your kind words and gifts.
We hope you have a beautiful Summer with your little lovelies. It has been a privilege to teach them all and they are ready… for Year 5!

The Greatest Show
I think you will all agree that the past two days have been simply spectacular! On the blog on Friday, I will add some more photos of the cast.
Here is some information that you will need for the next two days:
Tomorrow’s Leavers Trip
The children can come into school in their own clothes tomorrow, but sensible clothes for the lake and the beach. Comfy walking shoes are a must as we will be walking from school and back again. The children need a small backpack, water bottle, snack and sun cream. It is supposed to be warm tomorrow so a hat would also be recommended. After golf, we will be having fish and chips before heading down to the beach and having an ice-cream. We will be back to school for normal time.
Friday
As it is the children’s final day in school, please do drop them off if you can. It is a lovely memory to have. We will be encouraging Year 6 parents to walk the children to their classrooms for the final time, they don’t need to be dropped off at the gate. If you want to make your way to Kenilworth Road, that would be the best gate to come to. The children can also bring in with them a white school polo shirt to be signed, not the one that they are wearing, but an additional one to be signed. School closes at 2pm, but we would like you to come and get your children at 2.10pm. Once the playground has cleared the children can come out and have some time with you and each other on the playground. Photos can be taken and their time at primary school celebrated.
I know many of you have been asking after Mrs Harrison, the children certainly have! Mrs Harrison is fine, she is well but she just needs to be with her family at the moment due to an illness there. She is desperate to get in and see the children and if she can she will. Please know that there is nothing more than she wants at this moment. Thank you all for your best wishes for her. She really does appreciate it.

Reading
Its our last week, our final push for our reading certificates, if they are close then they can have their final certificate next week. Well done and thank you for all the reading you do at home.
Maths:
Keep talking about the time, go on this interactive clock below, can you make different o’clock times and half past times? Where should the minute hand be? Where should the hour hand be? These games on top marks are great. Keep working on counting in 2s,5s and 10s and use hit the button to practise addition, subtraction and number bonds. Click on number bonds then choose 1-10, 1-20 and up to 100, this will help with fluency and prepare us for Year 2 please continue to practice these skills over the summer holidays it will make a huge difference and prepare them for the challenge of Year 2.
Handwriting
Keep the handwriting going over the holidays too, keep working on pre-cursive letters and simple sentences.
Once you log in, you can click on free play to explore at home or Year 1.
To find the letters, click on easy letters, then click on the letters you want to practise, at the bottom of the screen. You can click on the play button to see how you write the letter, then click on try and the bottom of the screen under the play button so you can practice each letter.
Don’t forget to practise with pencils in your purple books
Optional Challenges!
It is wonderful that the children are so excited about their learning and to see how keen they are to continue this outside of school. We welcome any opportunity to share these learning experiences with you at home, which is why we have created ‘optional challenges’ across each year group which can be explored over this Summer 2 half term.
These challenges link to the wider area of our curriculum, there are some activities to help with retrival and some with topics that are coming up.
Below you will find the optional challenges linking to the topics and areas of learning that we will be exploring this half term. These fun challenges are designed to cover a range of skills without being stressful or time consuming for you at home. You are welcome to complete them in any order you wish and it would be lovely to see pictures or examples of things that the children have enjoyed at home.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend

Wow! What an amazing week it has been. We are making sure that we go out with a bang this year in Year 5. A lot of our week consisted of our play practices in which the children are most certainly ready for. If you haven’t already, make sure to purchase ticket for the show from the office. With all of the play practices this week and with groups of children constantly in and out of the classroom, we have used this week to finish off any remaining work across our curriculum- which has allowed the children to really focus on their independence in taking ownership of their work.
Thursday saw us take a trip to St Bede’s for a PE day. It was brilliant for the children to spend an entire day at their potential future high school and get a real feel for the place. The children were joined by many other primary schools in the Lytham St Annes area, in which it was brilliant to see the children reunited with their friends from outside of school. This was also a brilliant opportunity for the children to meet new people and start building new friendships for the future.
We finished the week in style as Year 5 got the opportunity to host a sports afternoon, directed by the Barrow brothers, in aid of the children’s hospitals that have been helping our Dominic throughout his treatments. The class have come together the past few weeks to create all of the ideas that were on display this afternoon and we hope that all of the children enjoyed the event. We can’t thank you enough for the extra preparation that you did for our event such as baking cakes to donating prizes for the tombola. Nearly £3,000 raised so far which is absolutely fantastic- and still counting!

The penultimate week of the year and preparations are underway for our Leavers Pirate Party!!!
The children (and nursery ladies) are so excited, I hope everyone is getting their costumes organised!).
We asked the children what has been their favourite activity or learning we have done this year and we have been revisiting some of them. It has been such a happy week and we have learnt soooo much!
Emma’s blog
Hello everyone, what a fun packed week we have had!
We have some exciting news, all of the butterflies have emerged from their cocoons and have been set free in Lytham St Annes, keep a look out for any Painted Lady butterfiles! We hope they are having a nice time. It has been such a wonderful experience.
Our bee houses are up in the garden, and the children are waiting patiently for the bees to move in. In the mean time, the children have been drawing their own version of bees, we have had some great drawings, even a three eyed bee. Did you know that bees have five eyes, one at each side of their heads, and three more at the top of their head to sense any approaching from predators. I'll let you know if we have any bees moving in next week.
We have been getting very excited for our Pirate Party next Wednesday. We have been channeling our inner pirate by dressing up in pirate costumes and building pirate ships in the garden. Our year 6 helpers joined too. Some friends have been drawing their own map, where X marks the spot for the treasure. It has been brilliant to watch the children having fun, finding lots of treasure around the garden, and putting it in Barbara’s treasure box (I think she may be a real pirate!). However, the box went missing! Super Croccy had to come with a mission for the children to help find the stolen treasure and box. The children love it when Super Croccy comes to visit.
The children have been asking to put Dough Disco on the blog so they can do it at home.
Here is a Recipe how to make the play dough. Click here.
Have fun over the summer holidays with all your dough disco moves, and maybe set mummies and daddies a Dough Disco challenge. Have fun!
Click here and here and here!!!
I cannot believe we have one more week left before all the children finish for summer. Next week is going to be sad, but also happy and fun.
Have a lovely weekend see you all on Monday.

Hello and welcome to this week’s blog. We were very excited when all five of our butterflies metamorphosised . We looked after them by feeding them flowers and sugary water and then we let them free. At first, they didn’t seem to want to fly away, they stayed inside the butterfly house, getting used to the outside air. Then they flew off into the sky. Fly high butterflies, we hope you have good lives.
We also checked on the ladybird larvae, but they have not grown into adult ladybirds yet. We will keep checking.
We have been practising for the Sports Fest on Friday. We used the track and had relay races and backwards races. It’s harder than it looks, running backwards.
We can’t believe it’s nearly the end of the year, where does the time go? They do say time flies when you’re having fun! We certainly have had lots of fun these past months. The children have learnt so much and have grown into such wonderful, lovely, kind people.
We are pleased to say that the fun is not over yet, not by a long way. Next week we will be having a PIRATE PARTY! This is on Wednesday 9.30-11.30. We have got lots of fun, fantastic games planned, like walk the plank and a treasure hunt. Click here if you need any help understanding your little pirate.
We all love story time and we have had lots of pirate stories this week. Here is a bedtime pirate story. Click here.
Have a lovely weekend and we will see you next week for our last week of nursery.

Reading
Final reading target of the year! Let’s go out with a bang and reach our target to top off an excellent year of reading.
Year 4 Weekly blog Friday 12th July "Take every opportunity that comes your way and most importantly, have fun with it."
Our penultimate week in Year 4 has seen the children yet again rising to so many challenges. On Monday we went to the Grand theatre for the first ever ‘Storytelling Festival.’ The children were split into 3 groups to take part in storytelling workshops with professionals - to explore either historical fiction, horror or fantasy stories. They were in groups with many other schoolchildren of different ages. What they managed to produce in 2 hours was great and all loved performing on the Grand Stage! The fantasy group put together their story interpretation of ‘The Jabberwocky.’ The historical fiction group explored the history of the Grand theatre and how it was nearly destroyed and the horror group wove many spooky tales with witchcraft, ghosts and mind control! A very creative day. Grace joined a special writing workshop where she made up a lovely story and then was so brave to give a summary of it on stage.
On Wednesday, we performed our flute and clarinet concert to parents in the hall. Playing a musical instrument was tough at first and taught children an important lesson in resilience - with the message - you can do hard things. Their performance was superb and vibrant. Every child worked as one big team to showcase what they have learned - with a special mention to Josh on the drums - keeping everyone in check with his excellent beat and rhythm.
This week, we have tackled telling the time on an analogue clock and it is our mission to really understand this before we move on to year 5. In English, we have continued with our study of Viking myths and children have dramatised these by putting on a puppet show using shadow puppets, to link to our Science topic on light.
We also had a beautiful worship about the Holy Spirit being there to guide us through life. It was led by these three children and was really well put together. Thank you.
Conversation starters
We have learned a few key principles about light. How does it travel? What is darkness? What causes a reflection and how are shadows formed? See what sort of shadows you can create at home.
Let’s Celebrate!
This week we have two determined and reflective learners for Matilda and Hugo. Both of you are showing such determination to succeed and really want to grow as learners and as people. Thank you.
Grateful and Generous butterflies
This week our butterfly goes to Grace for always being so thankful and rising to every opportunity.

Not long now until ‘THE GREATEST SHOW’- we can’t wait for you to see it …
It has been another busy week next week, with the play. Most of you have ordered and received your tickets now. The show starts at 6:00pm and will be approximately 2 hours long. The children need to arrive at school at 5:30pm, to get changed in to their costumes. They all look fabulous in their outfits, thank you so much for making such effort. Here is a sneaky peak at rehearsals …
We had such a wonderful afternoon at Blackpool Showtime Museum. It was very exciting getting the double decker bus, and I am sure you heard about our attempt to have a picnic on Blackpool front… we had some very cheeky seagulls swarming in on us to try and take a bite, so we quickly changed the plan! The museum in itself was fabulous and we learnt so much about Blackpool’s History!
Year 6 have been wonderful on their jobs around the school, getting fully involved in their classes activities and learning. Some going above and beyond, by squeezing in to nursery pirate costumes- don’t they look great…
On the last day (Friday) we thought it would be lovely if the Year 6 parents came to collect your children at the later time of 2:15pm, this gives more time on the playground to say your goodbyes and to take any pictures that you may want to take of their final day at Primary School.
We are all looking forward to the leaver’s day out next THURSDAY! It is imperative that all children MUST have a bag with them, containing plenty of fluids, a snack, hat and sun-cream/ waterproof coat dependent on the VERY unpredictable weather. We will be out ALL day, come rain or shine, so haven’t the right things is so vital! They are able to wear their own clothes on this day, leavers hoodies might be nice for pictures? Sensible shoes for walking must also be worn, as we are doing ALOT of walking! Cost for the day, the golf, chippy lunch and ice-cream is now on parentpay. We are charging just £6 for this, as the PTFA are subsidizing part of the cost.
Reports have come home today with the children, I hope you enjoy reading and reflecting on them, they have so much to celebrate from their time at Our Lady’s but like everyone, always something to take away and learn from. The most important part of your child’s report, is the one written by us, as their teacher. We celebrate the WHOLE child, not just their performance on one day, so please let this be your focus and not the SAT’s results. SAT’s results are in the pack, so please have a good look at them along with the explanation- the standardized score on reaching expected for all papers was 100. Remember, results from a test never define you as a person, just look at what they have all achieved this year- there is so much to celebrate and be proud of!
Well done to Poppy and Leo
Wow Poppy, our eyes are drawn to you while you are on stage. Your enthusiasm, confidence and delivery is infectious. Thank you for working so hard on your character, and doing your absolute best on stage! You know every single word of the songs and remember all of the dance moves- we are so impressed!
Leo, you are such a gentleman and an absolute pleasure to work with in the hall, as you push yourself daily out of your comfort zone to give your very best and you are doing amazing! We are so proud of the confidence you are showing! You are also such a help setting up the hall and always ready to offer your services. Likewise, in the classroom, you show great independence and focus- what an all rounder! Thank you.
Grateful and Generous butterflies
This half term we will be on the lookout for all the children that are grateful for their own gifts, the gifts of others and the blessings of each day. We will also be spotting children who are generous, who use their gifts to help others. These children are the role models of the school. This week we thank Jay for always being generous with his own gifts to help others.

Year 2 - Home Learning to be handed in on the final Monday of term (15th July)
As we reach the end of Year 2 I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support with home learning throughout the year. Thank you for working alongside your child: reading, playing numbots, spelling and using letter join to develop their cursive handwriting. It really has made the difference.
READING
Lots of super reading going on in class. It is clear that when they read with you and you chat about the story they are super confident when quizzing!
How many books can you read in this final week? Books will be handed back next week so we can take stock. Time now to turn to the library - members of St. Annes library have been to school to share the “Summer Reading Challenge”. Why not pop along this weekend and get cracking!
MATHS
There is so much excitement around Numbots. We have a group of children who are about to get through the final level- DIAMOND. Please keep going! Please don’t stop - we continue to use Numbots in Year 3. We want everyone to get to the end so that all our addition and subtraction facts and structures are secure. This is a target you can keep working towards during the break from school.

HANDWRITING
We have been writing stories this week and I’ve had lovely creative conversations. We have also chatted about handwriting and which letters are tricky. I would like the children to go into letter join and click on “Hard letters” in the menu bar - watch/try and practice K F Z and X.
Thank you!
SHOWTOWN YEAR 6 TRIP
On Wednesday 10th July, we will be setting off late morning to catch the bus in to Blackpool. We will then be having a picnic on Blackpool front, so fingers crossed for nice sunny weather (we have a back up plan just in case). Children need to be in full school uniform, coats as a precaution, packed lunch unless you have opted for the school packed lunch and a water bottle. If children put their lunches in disposable bags, this will mean we can dispose of them and they won’t be carrying it round all day. No fizzy drinks please. We will be catching the bus back and this is due to arrive at 3:34pm in St Annes, which means we will be back at school at approximately 3:45pm. This is dependent on traffic and room on the bus, but if we will be later you will be informed by text. Thank you.
Year 5 Trip to St Bedes- Thursday 11th July
On Thursday 11th July, we will be spending the day at St Bedes for a PE day. The children will need to be in their PE kits when they arrive to school and are to make sure they bring plenty of fluids (water only). The weather at the moment is forecasted for 15 degrees, with lots of clouds, but please do check for any changes just incase the children will require a coat or sun cream.
Please fill in the form below in regards to what type of lunch your child is having on the day.
