I can hardly believe we are so close to the end of the Autumn Term. This week, we have been very busy filming our Nativity and immersing ourselves into the Christmas Story and the magic of Advent.

This week in Year One, the Christmas spirit has been all around us as we celebrated the start of Advent. The children are shining in their nativity rehearsals and the learning this week has been nothing short of wonderful!

This week, the children have begun rehearsals for their Nativity. This years Nativity will be very special; it will be filmed for your enjoyment at home and will allow you to share it with friends and family, at this very special time of the year. I look forward to sharing the filmed performance with you in my final blog before Christmas, although I have no doubt you’ll hear the songs before then!

On Tuesday the children ventured into St Annes, for their first ever school trip!

I have exciting news…next Tuesday morning, the children will be going on a geography adventure to St Annes Beach!

The children have returned to school as enthusiastic as ever. We’ve made the most of every minute this week and have immersed ourselves in our new learning.

The mornings have been a little darker this week but the children have loved exploring our autumnal school grounds. We went on an Autumn treasure hunt and spotted lots of signs of Autumn, using our five senses.

What does it mean to be kind? This week in Year One we have read the story, Be Kind, and have thought deeply about how we can be the kindest versions of ourselves.

Our week in Year One has been jam packed with learning. The children continue to impress me everyday with their enthusiasm and love for learning and despite the wet weather and gloomy skies, nothing has stopped us from smiling and shining!

We’ve had a wonderful time this week in Year 1. We’ve been scientists, classifying animals; mathematicians using number lines and have sung our hearts out in music. We’ve been very busy!

From ‘heads, shoulders, knees and toes’, to vegetable crime scenes…we’ve had a very busy and exciting week in Year One.

Our first full week in Year One has been fantastic. The children have continued to wow me everyday with their enthusiasm for learning and brilliant Cooper Crab focus.

Our first ‘week’ in Year One, has been short, sweet and truly wonderful!

Hello and welcome to the Year 1 blog page!

In the blink of an eye, the final day of Year 1 has arrived. Despite the many challenges the world has thrown at us this year, we have all arrived safely at the Summer Holidays, with brilliant brains and huge hearts.

My wonderful Year 1 families and children, all I can say is thank you. Thank you for being so understanding, thank you for your kindness and thank you for your continued support. Myself and the Year 1 Team are so upset and disappointed that our bubble has popped, but I am so grateful we got so close to the end of the year!

We’ve had another busy week in Year 1 and have had so much fun growing our brains. I can hardly believe we only have two more weeks of school - we are going to be making the most of every moment together!

Despite feeling under the weather myself this week, Miss Bassett has loved spending extra special time with the children and I’ve heard wonderful things about how hard they have been working.

This week in Year 1 has been nothing short of wonderful! On Tuesday we had our Sports Day and I could not have been prouder of the children. The enthusiasm, determination and resilience they showed was outstanding… not to mention their amazing sportsmanship! I hope you enjoy looking at the photos below and sharing in the excitement.
